What ChatHop is
ChatHop is a browser extension that allows users to transfer conversation context between supported AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Le Chat, and Perplexity.
ChatHop is designed to work only when the user explicitly initiates an action.
Information ChatHop accesses
When a user activates ChatHop, the extension may access the conversation content displayed in the currently active supported AI tab.
This access is used only to allow the user to transfer that conversation context to another supported AI service.
activeTab
ChatHop uses Chrome's activeTab permission so the extension can access the currently active supported AI page after the user explicitly activates ChatHop.
This allows ChatHop to read the visible conversation context necessary to perform the transfer requested by the user.
ChatHop does not use this permission to monitor unrelated browsing activity.
clipboardWrite
ChatHop may use the clipboardWrite permission when necessary to place user-requested conversation transfer content on the clipboard as part of the transfer process.
Clipboard access occurs only as part of an action initiated by the user.
ChatHop does not use clipboard access for advertising, tracking, profiling, or unrelated purposes.
Host permissions
ChatHop requires access to supported AI websites so it can read conversation content and assist with transfers between those services when requested by the user. Supported services may include:
- ChatGPT
- Claude
- Gemini
- DeepSeek
- Le Chat
- Perplexity
Host permissions are used only to provide ChatHop's conversation-transfer functionality — never to track users across unrelated websites.
storage
ChatHop uses Chrome's storage permission to store lightweight extension settings and preferences locally in the user's browser. This may include:
- selected destination AI service
- selected transfer reason
- extension preferences
- settings required for normal operation
ChatHop does not use browser storage to build advertising profiles.
Remote code
ChatHop does not download or execute remotely hosted JavaScript, WebAssembly, or other executable code.
All executable code required by the Chrome extension is packaged with the extension itself.
Any network communication used by ChatHop is for data or normal service functionality and is not used to download executable extension code.
Accounts
ChatHop does not require users to create a ChatHop account or provide a password. Upgrading is handled entirely by Stripe's hosted checkout: if you subscribe, Stripe collects your email address for receipts and subscription management, and your plan is tied anonymously to a random device identifier stored in your browser.
Selling data
ChatHop does not sell personal data.
ChatHop does not sell conversation content.
ChatHop does not use user information for targeted advertising.
Third-party AI services
ChatHop allows users to transfer information to third-party AI services.
Once information is submitted to a third-party service such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Le Chat, or Perplexity, that information may be processed according to that third party's own terms and privacy policy.
ChatHop does not control how third-party AI providers process information submitted directly to them.
User control
ChatHop accesses or transfers conversation context only when initiated by the user.
Users can stop using ChatHop at any time by disabling or uninstalling the extension.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as ChatHop changes.
The latest version should always be available on this page.
Billing (ChatHop Pro)
If you purchase ChatHop Pro, payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. ChatHop does not receive or store full payment-card numbers.
ChatHop's billing records contain only: a random device identifier, a hashed device authentication secret, and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers and status needed to provide the service.
The extension contacts chathops.netlify.app solely to check subscription entitlement status (device identifier, authentication secret, and plan/status information). It never sends conversation text, prompts, AI responses, clipboard contents, or browsing history to that service.
